Blondes, Books & Berries

The ward we attend is 90% great grandparents and 10% college students. (I think "great grandparents" is a better term than "extremely elderly".) One of the great grandparents brought this cut-out from a Land's End Catalog and handed it to me. I thought it was pretty cute that he thought she looked like me so much that he took the effort to cut it out and bring it to me. Maybe I missed out on my modeling career and maybe I need a tan.

The University of Utah was on Spring Break this week which meant 11 lonely nights for me and I found myself with extra time to read. I skimmed through Becca's reviews and picked these three that I borrowed from the library. I wrote reviews for two on Goodreads and I will write one for Contact when I finish it.

Coming of Age in Mississippi has some rough language so I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but I am glad I read it. It is an autobiography by a girl born in 1940 who grew up on a plantation farm in Mississippi. Even though I was raised under different circumstances, I still related to her and was continually reminded that Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us. This book increased my sense of gratitude, helped me develop a greater understanding for others, and gave me an optimistic perspective on my own life. Thank you for the reviews Becca.

One of my teeth got a tiny chip after I had some dental work done in December. It hurt but I thought I would adjust to it over time. I figured I could mostly chew on the other side and avoid foods that caused me the most pain. After being encouraged by my loving husband, I went back this week and celebrated today by enjoying every bite of this delicious bowl of strawberries. Strawberries are my favorite fruit. My mom used to buy huge flats from the strawberry stands and we would make them disappear fast. I am so glad to have it fixed.

That's all for now. I hope you are having a great day :)

  4. You are amazing how you find joy in the small things of life (although make-up is not so small!)
Eric should be home by now, and tired. He opted to stay up all night, while I tried to go to sleep and then wake up at 4. I think we both got the same amount of sleep!

  5. Although the photos have disappeared since I saw them last night, I concur--you're prettier, but that model looks a lot like you! That's an alert great-grandpa. Hope your week goes well and that you continue to enjoy your strawberries.

  8. Definitely, you are prettier and nicer than the model of the catalog, and please! don't get tanned, it will ruin your skin.
